News about wine making and wine appreciation by our Deaf fellows and friends, news not about people

Editor: Rusty Wales, the vintner of Prince of Wales wines
Webmaster: Bobby Skedsmo, the creator of the Estate of Skedsmo wines

Wine Quotation:

"Age appears to be best in three things:
old wood best to burn,  old wine to drink  and old friends to trust."

Sir Francis Bacon, English Author and Scientist (1561-1626)

(Personally, I admired Sir Bacon very much since I saw his statue in London in my recent trip to United Kingdom...moreover, it was great to see my old friends at school reunion!)

Editor Rusty's Rap:  Remove Labels and Save Spaces,

When I visit a friend and enjoy wine together, this friend showed me his collection of wine bottles, all empty.  Those empty bottles had certainly taken up too much space in his house.  His wife was not too happy with all those clusters in their (not his!) home. Actually, this guy wanted those labels more than bottles themselves. The labels may have sentimental value but empty bottles have no value whatsoever.  That was when I brought up a suggestion that made both husband and wife happy, how? . . . just remove a label and add it to your notebook.  Or frame several labels for a display.

See what I did with my Chevy '55 pickup . . .

There are three different ways to remove labels from bottles:

1.  Soak a bottle in a hot water for about 15 minutes and . . .
2.  Place a bottle in an oven at 250 degrees for about 10 minutes; then pry a corner of the label with a kitchen knife (caution, use oven mitten as this bottle will be hot!) and pull a label off. 3.  Use a special label saver slicker (for example, www.wineenthusiast.com)
