Itinerary

Day Four - Wednesday July 4 - Playa Santispac to La Paz - 296 miles

8:00 am:  There is no place to eat for the next 80 miles to Loreto so I suggest that you buy some snacks for sale on the site before we leave.  For the next 25 miles the road follows the shoreline and provides breathtaking panoramas of aquamarine waters, volcanic islands and placid coves.

10:00 am: By the time at Loreto we will no doubt be hungry.  There are some finest restaurants along the shoreline to choose from for your breakfast or lunch.  We will have time for strolling along the malecon (broadwalk) and shopping in the old town.

12:01 pm:  It will be about 5 hours ride to La Paz from Loreto. Check your fuel gauge before we head Ciudad Constitucion 88 miles away!  Scenic route by the remote gulf coast and across the sierra!  You will see the jagged barriers of mountain on your right side. Interesting sights!  Beyond the sierra is a coastal plain that spreads toward the Pacific Ocean.  At its heart is the Santo Domingo Valley that looks more like California's Central Valley.

2:00 pm:  Time for a drink and fueling our bike in Ciudad Constitucion.

2:30 pm:  Leaving Ciudad Constitucion, Highway 1 takes a straight shot for more than 30 miles across perfectly flat terrain.  130 miles to La Paz!  Advise you to fuel your bike when you reach Santa Rita or next in El Cien 27.6 miles away.  By the time you reach 86 miles from Cuidad Constitucion, here and there you'll catch a glimpse of the distant Pacific or Gulf waters as the narrowest stretch of the entire peninsula, less than 30 miles between coasts.  As we are approaching La Paz about 30 miles, we must be cautious with cattle or goat being on loose on the blind curve or vertical profile.

6:00 pm:  When we reach the "Dove of Peace" monument, we keep on the left ahead.  The road along the bay shore leads to downtown La Paz.  At the end we reach the destination for overnight at the Motel Villa del Sol on the left side and Casa Blanca Trailer Park on the right side.

7:00 pm:  We better get ready for dinner at the waterfront restaurant row near the wharf with plaza.

8:30 pm:  We will stroll along the malecon and watch the beautiful sunset at the plaza.
