20. Oscar George Skedsmo

Oscar was born in Christiania, Norway.  In 1898-1899, he came to America to enlist as a US Army soldier and battled at the American-Spanish War in Philippines.  That was the first time that the United States became involved as imperialism, but unfortunately he had a neck injury from this war.  He eventually became a US citizenship.  He often commuted to Oslo and that is where he met Nina Pearson on the Christinia ship.  They lived in Evanston and Spring Grove on East Solon Road near Richmond, Illinois.  He worked at Marshall Field Co.  He died of cancer.

Note:  Oscar was at the Yosemite Valley National Park on his way to China Naval Base for his active duty before he was called to be in Manila.  He went to Oslo on the ship as a hero.  It was where he met Nina who enrolled into the deaf school in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Correction and more information will be greatly appreciated about him.  Thank you.  skedsmo@earthlink.net
