Lea Kate or Kate Lea was born in Belgium. She came to America with her two brothers at early age. One of her brothers was a band group leader. Her father was a singer at the church in Belgium. She met Napoleon and got married in Green Bay, Wisconsin. They then moved to Stephenson in the Upper Michigan near Wisconsin border and lived on a farm. Their children were born there. She was a religious woman. She died of stroke at 57.
She died when Clara was 12 or 13 years old and Mary was 18 years old.
Adolph Serges and Anna Reumel were thought to be her parents.
Napoleon quit school at 3rd grade and left home at 16. He worked at Green Bay, Wisconsin. He had a brother living in Detroit, Michigan. He died of natural cause at 83 but his parents died at their early age.
