4. Oscar George Skedsmo

Oscar was born in Christiania, Norway.  He enlisted as a US soldier and battled at the American-Spanish War.  He had a neck injury from this war.  He eventually became a US citizenship.  He often commuted to Oslo and that is where he met Nina Pearson on the ship.  They lived in Evanston and Richmond, Illinois.  He worked at Marshall Field Co.  He died of cancer.

5. Nina Pearson

Nina went to a school for the deaf in Copenhagen, Denmark.  Although she was deaf, she had excellent speech.  She made many trips to America by ship.  In one of trips she met Oscar on a ship.

6. Fred Hayes Wheeler

Fred Wheeler received some money from one of his relatives and built a house at 1407 Upland Dr.; Kalamazoo, MI 49048.  His children often walked to downtown, about 3 miles across the countryside.

He was a charter member of the National Fraternity Society of the Deaf in Flint, Michigan.

One rainy day in Kalamazoo downtown, he walked across the street and was hit by an automobile.  He did not pay attention to the upcoming car.   He died from this mishap instantly.


7. Josephine Roberts

In January, Josephine wanted to have her all teeth extracted but had advised her to wait. She did not want to so she had her teeth extracted.  Doctor advised her to take a good care of her denture and apparently she did not.  She died of pneumonia due to cold weather.  Her daughter Florence was at bedside when she died.
